Where is FireFox's bookmarks stored?

• For Win2k & WinXP:

• C:\Documents and Settings\<Windows login/user name>\Application Data\Mozilla\
• For examples:

-> C:\Documents and Settings\user\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\998c9wle.default\bookmarks.html

Moving the bookmark file to a new folder

• Assumes

1. Firefox v7.0.1
2. user name of the computer: hh
3. user profile init file: C:\Documents and Settings\hh\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\profiles.ini
4. Original Profile folder location: C:\Documents and Settings\hh\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\iidbeuew.default
5. New Profile folder location: d:\hdata\firefox

Here is the procedure:

• exit Firefox
• Copy the whole original profile directory to the new profile folder location d:\hdata\firefox

• Run the Profile Manager

• In Windows, go "Start" menu, &Click "Run", then enter: firefox.exe -P

-> "create profile"

-> enter new profile name, e.g. "hh"

-> click "choose folder"

-> browser & select d:\hdata\firefox

-> click "Finish"

-> you should now see two profile names: hh and default

-> select hh and click Start Firefox

• Check the profile init file: profiles.ini

-> and you should see the new profile is added

-> That's it!

How to bypass browser's cache to see the changes?

• Firefox (/Mozilla /Safari): (Shift + Reload) or Ctrl-Shift-R (Cmd-Shift-R if Apple Mac);
• IE: press Ctrl-F5 or hold Ctrl while clicking Refresh
• Konqueror: simply click the Reload button, or press F5;
• Opera: users may need to completely clear their cache in Tools→Preferences.
