- Related_1: msfn.org -- Integration of Intel's SATA AHCI and RAID drivers

- Reason: Default SATA mode is AHCI ,
- -> and WinXP, in default, does not support SATA Hard-drive in AHCI mode
- -> which mean you need to re-install WinXP and that WinXP must be slipstreamed with a suitable AHCI driver
How to slipstream SATA AHCI Driver into WinXP?
- Assume:
- Mainboard: Intel DH67CF mini-ITX Mainboard
- OS: WinXP, SP3, 32-bit
- What you need:
- (a) SATA AHCI Driver
- -> in full name: Intel® Rapid Storage Technology Driver for Intel Desktop Boards
- -> or simply RAID driver
- -> it does contain AHCI drivers
- (b) WinXP installation CD, and SP3
- (c) UDC_Script for downloading WinXP_SP3_LatestUpdates -- Note: English version updates ONLY!
- (d) nLiteOS: the tools to slipstream the AHCI driver, SP3 and SP3 latest updates into WinXP installation CD
- Procedures:
- (i.a) Download the right AHCI driver for the mainboard
- Go http://intel.com
- click "Support" -> download latest drivers
- -> Desktop Boards -> 6 Series -> DH67CF
- -> Windows XP Professional -> drivers
- -> click on "RAID: Intel® Rapid Storage Technology Driver for Intel Desktop Boards"
- -> Download the driver file: STOR_XP32_10.6.0.1002_PV.zip
- or simply go this Link to download
- (i.b) Modify the file TXTSETUP.OEM as include in "STOR_XP32_10.6.0.1002_PV.zip"
- unzip the driver file and Edit "TXTSETUP.OEM" using Notepad or Notepad++
- Look for the lines (in about line#10)
[Defaults] scsi = iaStor_Mobile |
- change it to:
[Defaults] scsi = iaAHCI_DesktopWorkstationServer |
- zip the driver with the new TXTSETUP.OEM ??
- -> When you install XP and press F6 you will then see the AHCI driver as an option to include in your installation.
- -> you may then see options like:
- "Intel(R) 6 Series 4 Port SATA AHCI Controller" - "Intel(R) 6 Series 6 Port SATA AHCI Controller" - "Intel(R) 6 Series/3400 Series SATA AHCI Controller" - "Intel(R) Desktop/Workstation/Server Express Chipset SATA AHCI Controller" |
- -> select the last option.
- (ii) Run nLiteOS and slipstream the AHCI driver, SP3 and SP3 latest updates into WinXP installation CD
- (iii) Create the installation CD or USB Flash Drive
- (iv) Go into BIOS setup and make sure the SATA mode is AHCI
- (v) restart the mainboard and the WinXP installation should start normally
