From Kb_JMY(晉明夷)
JMY(晉明夷) is proposing a Knowledge-Based System Called kbWiki -- or a knowledge-base (kb) system with a wiki platform to aggregate all the knowledge generated from the system.
kbWiki is still in its embryo stage and is inviting people to help drafting the objectives, features and detail specifications of the system.
If you are interested, pls. give a brief introduce yourself and discuss
Introduction
kbWiki aims to create a Knowledge-Based Systems by integrating the contemporary platforms including but not limited to wiki, Blog, Forum, and a CMS (Content Management System); or in summary:
Wiki + Blog + Forum + CMS
- Wiki: provides a platform for aggregating all the knowledge that generated from the wiki itself, the Blog, the Forum, and the CMS;
- Blog: provides a platform for presenting articles as issued by a member of the system;
- Forum: provides a platform for interaction and discussion among members of the system;
- CMS: the content management sytem provides a versatile platform for the website look & feel design, user management & grouping, overall accessiblity control and quick function expansion of the system;
Preliminary suggestion is:
MediaWiki + Wordpress (Blog) + SMF (Forum) + Joomla (CMS)
The above are nothing new, but to integrate all the above independent systems together takes a lot of efforts and overall system design. Actually, there have been existing products integrating Blog & Wiki (i.e Bliki), Forum & Wiki, and actually more integration works are found with CMS, such as Joomla.
Integration Means...
The OTT(Objects, Tags, &Tree) Structure &Concepts
The OTT concept are designed to tackle the need for multiple attribution and flexible viewing of data.
For example, in contact management and CRM, a man (an object) can have multiple job identities (e.g. MD of ABC Co. Ltd, the Chairman of DEF Electronic Engineer Association...), but common contact management allows only single attributes to a contact person; ABC Co. Ltd. can produce products in multiple industries (e.g. plastic toys, electronics toys, MP3 (as premium gifts); DEF Co.Ltd. produces electrical appliances, but start to make MP3, premium grade digital camera... Common CRM system allows only selection of a single industry to a company.
- An Object
-- examples: a man, a company, -- an object can have multiple attributes and belong to another object
- A Tag
-- The Attribute(s) to an object; -- Examples:
- A Tree (Just like folder,plus...)
- A tree defines the relationship between tags through multi-level grouping using the dot connector "." (or other good connector, pls. suggest!)
- should be created, displayed and modified as easily as the folders in Microsoft Windows
- Examples:
industries
industries.toys
industries.electronics
industries.electronics.semiconductors
